Todd B. Richter, a well-regarded healthcare analyst on Wall Street, recently revealed his philanthropic gesture towards the Kelley School, cementing his legacy with a substantial estate commitment exceeding $5 million. This generous contribution is earmarked for the establishment of the Todd B. Richter Fund, designed to bolster five key endowments within the institution.

The strategic allocation of the Richter Fund is aimed at fostering academic excellence and advancing the field of finance. Specifically, it will underwrite two professorships dedicated to seasoned faculty specializing in securities analysis. Additionally, the fund will provide support for graduate fellowships catering to students pursuing finance or securities analysis studies at Kelley. Moreover, it pledges assistance to the Graduate Finance Department and the Dean’s Office. Notably, any remaining residue from the bequest will be equitably distributed among the aforementioned categories.

Daniel C. Smith, Dean of the Kelley School, lauds Todd B. Richter’s significant contributions, emphasizing his embodiment of the institution’s cherished values. Richter’s commitment extends beyond financial generosity to active involvement, including mentoring students, exchanging research ideas with faculty, contributing to the Reese Fund board, and adjudicating case competitions. Dean Smith anticipates that the Richter Fund will serve as a beacon, inspiring future generations within the Kelley community.

Richter’s career trajectory in the healthcare industry commenced at Morgan Stanley, where he spent 18 years leading the firm’s healthcare services equity research efforts and providing comprehensive coverage across all healthcare service subsectors.

A 1979 graduate of the College of William and Mary, Richter remains actively engaged in the Kelley School community, serving on the Dean’s Council and participating in the Kelley Alumni Association’s Metropolitan New York chapter. Additionally, he is an esteemed member of the Arbutus Society within the Indiana University Foundation. Richter’s professional achievements are underscored by numerous accolades, including being recognized 17 times as an “All-American Analyst” in Institutional Investor’s Annual Survey and as an “All-Star Analyst” by the Wall Street Journal.
